Did you know that diabetes and high blood pressure can increase your risk of kidney disease? Many people don't realize they have kidney disease until it reaches the stage when dialysis or a kidney transplant is necessary. Fortunately, there are steps that can be taken to reduce this risk or slow the progression of kidney disease, such as kidney health testing, changes to diet and exercise, medication, and the management of diabetes and hypertension.

In Canada, Black people are disproportionately affected by kidney disease, and this risk often goes unnoticed.  We're a team of community members and researchers involved in creating kidney health resources specifically for African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) people. If you identify as Black, we'd love to hear what information matters most to you.
